The water of Jura has long been believed to possess mystical qualities, owing to a legendary blessing by St Columba nearly 1,500 years ago. The islanders certainly have a history of longevity - legends tell of a man who lived to see 180 Christmases in his own home. Myth or fact, Diurachs’ can certainly control the ageing process when it comes to whisky. A legend based on the water found on Jura, where the water’s said to have life giving properties. Aged in a mix of American White Oak and Sherry casks, the combination of flavours includes crushed almonds, pineapple and fresh roasted coffee. The palate is rewarded with hints of citrus fruit, dark toffee and ginger spice. An exceptionally easy drinking whisky that is smooth and warming.
